Martial arts is more than self defense. It’s a lifestyle built upon virtue. Most people might think of martial arts as flying kicks and breaking boards, but it goes much deeper than that. Our system is both a powerful tool for self defense and growing our inner fire. Through our core virtues, we develop a foundation upon which we can build lives of fulfillment, happiness and meaning.

Much of our everyday life is spent separated from our bodies while attending to the demands of the day. As a consequence, our mental and physical health suffers. Martial arts is a way of reconnecting with ourselves, coming into our bodies and into the moment. Walking into the Dojo and leaving everything else at the door is a great relief from the stress that can overwhelm us.

When we train, we challenge ourselves. It demands all of our attention and presence.

When we set our feet on the mat, we commit ourselves to being our best. We use our energy in a constructive way, building both our physical and mental strength. We release the concerns of the day and engage ourselves in the process of our own growth.

We leave class with a different attitude. Our minds clear and engaged. We can see problems from a different point of view. When we do more than we thought was possible for us and more from ourselves, we emerge greater, more expansive human beings. We build camaraderie with our classmates and training partners, often forging lifelong friendships. Every hour we put into our training pays us back tenfold. It is an investment in our health and our happiness, which affects all those we come into contact with.

Inner Fire provides a carefully planned curriculum based on 30 years of experience from 5th Degree Black Belt, Sean Gary. Our style is a unique mix of Karate, kickboxing, Judo, Tae Kwon Do, Jiu Jitsu and other styles we have incorporated over the years. We are constantly evolving and updating what we teach. Martial arts is a living thing, never stagnating. There is always more to learn and as our instructors evolve, so does our art, and in turn, our students.
